| Start-Up and Maintenance The Penguin Power Filter requires virtually no set-up, making it perfect for any fish lover. Simply follow the manual in connecting the parts and then hang the filter onto the back of your tank. Be sure to prime your filter with aquarium water before you plug it in. Once you have set-up your filter you can adjust the water flow by using the mid-level strainer. After the initial set- up the maintenance of this filter is quite easy. Simply remove and replace the filter cartridge after approximately one month and clean the filter as needed. It is also important to maintain an adequate water level in your tank to ensure your Penguin Power filter runs quietly and efficiently. Mixed reviews:Depending on the size of the tank, you’ll either love it or hate it. I love it for my nano and for the price, I keep buying them for future nanos.The Penguin 75 is a power-house filter for a nano tank. On my rimless 7. 5 g tank, it acts as if though it were custom built. I get great performance and a rich stream of micro bubbles distributed throughout the tank.However, on a 10 g tank, it seems to spit and sputter. I don’t recommend it for the 10 g or higher.

I am a huge fan of Penguin BIo-Wheel fish tank filters. I was ecstatic to find the new 75 Power model because my tank is only 3 gallons. I can use it and my Betta isn’t flattened against the side of the tank. I previously had the next size up which was designed for up to 20 gallons (this one is for up to 10 gallons) and had to put in a large artificial plant that was taller than the water line to break up the flow. I used the filter insert from my old filter in this one (they use the same filter medium) and, with the Bio Wheel there to catch the bacteria, did not have any cycling problems in my tank. The ammonia level stayed negligible.

Works great!!! Use it in my 5 gallon hospital tank. Not sure what most are complaining about because the flow is not too strong at all!!! I’ve had fry in there that swim around fine with no issues. Great filter!!

I recently bought a 10 gallon kit that came with a Tetra Whisper….. Whisper, it did not. The Tetra Whisper roared like an angry lion with an ingrown toenail. I researched online and did everything to shut the thing up. Eventual solution was to put it out of my misery (and my fish). I have a Penguin 150 in my 20 gallon and all I hear is the water gently splashing and agitating the surface. So, I decided to try the Penguin 75 for the 10 gallon. Am so happy now. No sound but lapping water. Only thing is that the bio-wheel doesn’t always turn (on both Penguins). But, the fish have all assured me that they don’t mind. I’ll always buy a Penguin!!!!

Works really well, filters change out easily & quickly, the filter itself is actually on the quiet side. Filters are not very expensive either.. I Would recommend this filter
