Instructions
Place the aquarium on a stand
Make sure the stand and aquarium are level on all sides, and only use furniture designed to hold the weight of a filled aquarium. (aquarium stand sold separately).
Rinse gravel
Purchase your favorite gravel style (not included inside the kit) and rinse it before adding it to the aquarium. Layer gravel at the bottom of the aquarium 1 – 3 inches deep.
Rinse decor
Purchase your chosen decor pieces (not included inside the kit). After finding a location inside the aquarium, cover the base of the plants with gravel to hold them securely in place.
Add Water & Water Conditioner
Add Water & Water ConditionerUse room temperature water and pour overhand to avoid moving decor. Fill aquarium 1/2-inch from the top of the frame — always use Water Conditioner when adding water to the aquarium.
Add Filter and Rinse Cartridge
Rinse the filter cartridge and follow the filter instructions. Place the filter on the aquarium in the desired location.
Add Heater and Thermometer
Stick a thermometer in the desired place on the aquarium suction heater to the back of the aquarium.
Place Light Hood on the Aquarium
Ensure heater and filter cords flow through the openings in the light hood to ensure a proper, snug fit.
Wait for 24 hrs, add Fish.
Purchase your favorite fish! Place the sealed bag with the fish inside the aquarium for at least 20 minutes to allow them to get used to the water temperature. Then, release them into the tank by gently scooping them out of the bag with the fishnet. It is important not to add more than a few fish at once or overload the aquarium with fish.

I have several fish in this tank and it seems well made and the light/filter work well. The only complaint I have is that the water-intake part of the filter which has holes in it that are wide enough that one of my tetras got sucked in and died. This isn’t the fault of the tank or filter which is why it didn’t impact my rating but it is good to know if you are looking into this for neon tetras or a similarly small fish.

My grandson got a Betta fish as part of a school science project. It was living in a large glass jar. I bought this kit for Lemon, the fish, as much as for my grandson. It arrived right on time with no issues, and had everything included for immediate set up.My daughter got it all set up and my grandson had Lemon in his new home that same day. He loves his aquarium and so does Lemon. (Lemon is bright blue, btw. Jon (grandson) named him that. Don’t know why)Now, we take trips to the pet store to add to Lemon’s new home. Works great! LED light is very bright, tank warmer work’s well. Filter is very quiet, but the stick on thermometer isn’t easy to read.

I was lucky enough to grab the last “used- like new” available kit through amazon and I’m glad I took the leap. I bought it for the purpose of making it my quarantine tank because despite owning two empty ten gallons I found that the accessories a lone were going to cost as much as a new kit, then I got this for $20 less. So now I have 3 tens. Win-win.I won’t deny that the lack of hinges is a bit weird but not weird enough for me to take off a star. Taking the hood off safely isn’t complex and I’m interested to see if the led filter warning works.And yes, those are jail cells.

Two design issues that can be easily solved.Pros:-Good seal on sides, should not be any leaks.-Filter flow is good.-Lights are bright.-Cutouts on the back for accessories and food.-Came with more food and water conditioner than pictured.-Filter pad allows more area for beneficial bacteria to grow.Cons:-Filter media restricts flow too much to the point where water can bypass media.(I suggest buying a third party filter media that’s thinner, however, this isn’t a huge concern If you vacuum and do weekly water changes, it’s not that hard.)-Lights are NOT waterproofed so aeration bubbles (bubbles that come up from an aeration system and pop at the surface comes high enough to reach the lights), and evaporation (given that your water is above around 80 degrees F.)-Heater is preset to around 76-77. Not adjustable.-To clearly see the thermometer you’ll need a flashlight (Not a big deal, phones work).The lights need to be waterproofed, you could solve this by raising the lid above the actual tank. Don’t bother with replacing filters, they want you to buy filters to make money, again, frequent water changes, rinsing the filter media that came with it, and vacuuming at least once every other week will suffice.

This fish tank is the answer to someone who wants everything in one box ready to go. It arrives well packaged and easy to set up. My daughters and I had this set up in less than thirty minutes. Including adding the water. You have a thermometer, filter, food, aqua safe, filter, tank, and lid. Super easy. We added gravel and let the water sit for a week before adding our fish. We have had no problems and love our easy to use tank. We added four fish total and have had no issues. We rinse the filter once a week and change it monthly.

Lovely tank. The filter is great, the heater keeps my bettas happy at 78C. Of course, with any new tank (ordered online or bought in store) a risk for leaks is present. Aqueon is a good brand but things happen. Fill your tank halfway, check for leaks. Fill it up and check each day for two days. In this hobby, there is always risk. I upgraded the lid to the Aqueon Glass lid (fits perfect!) and Nicrew lights. Looks much better now! You can’t go wrong 🙂 My betta girls love this tank.
